How much does an appointment cost?

Dr Kemp is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, so is able to provide Specialist Psychology Services. This means that if you are referred under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will receive a higher benefit from Medicare. Costs can vary depending on the length of time of the appointment, the type of service required, and whether clients are referred by their medical practitioner under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Generally, if you are referred by your medical practitioner the gap for each appointment will be $121.50.  Dr Kemp charges the Australian Psychological Society recommended fee of $246 for each 60 min appointment (paid in full on the day of your appointment) and the Medicare rebate is $124.50 (i.e., the normal gap is $121.50).

We offer a significant discount if you have a current Health Care Card/Pension Card, so your appointment charge is $190 (paid in full on the day of your appointment) and with the Medicare rebate of $124.50 your "gap" is $65.50.

If you are not referred to Dr Kemp by a medical practitioner, you may still be entitled to claim a rebate from your private health insurer.  You should contact your private health insurer prior to your consultation to find out how much your rebate will be.

We can accept payment by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS. For clients claiming under Medicare, the process is easiest if you have access to an EFTPOS card, as we can electronically process the claim AND your rebate on the same day.
